When you waste water, you’re not just hitting your own wallet, you’re hurting the environment, too. Which is why it’s important to cut down on your water usage for all your tasks, whether they consume lots of water or just a bit.
Save on your laundry
One of the biggest uses of water is your washing machine, which is why at Ariel we’ve invested in cutting our waste water. So how can you do similar?
Well, over the past 20 years, washing machines have cut water consumption by a massive 62% for every 5 kilos of clothes washed. So it’s a great idea to invest in a new, modern washing machine if you can.
A new washing machine will not only use less water, but it will be much more energy efficient in general, cutting your cost per wash: it can pay for itself very quickly.
Yet a new washing machine isn’t the only thing you can do. The right washing detergent matters, too.
Efficient detergents
Ariel Liquid detergent gives you fantastic though stain removal without any pre-wash or any other steps. This way, you can get clean clothes with less water usage. It also works perfectly at the lower temperatures favored by newer washing machines’ eco cycles, saving you more.
Be careful with those eco cycles, though. Sometimes a short cycle uses less water than the eco one. Check your washing machine’s instructions to find the water-use rating for each cycle.
Use the right amount
With your detergent, it’s important to get your dosing right. Too much or too little and you may have to wash again. It’s also worth spending just another minute checking the load for tissues, pens or anything that may cause you to wash again.
Lastly, let’s see tips on saving water when it comes to fill up your machine. You should be able to fit your hand in the top of the drum, nothing more. Too many clothes and they won’t get perfectly clean, too few and you’re wasting water.
Of course, washing isn’t the only way you can save water. With save water hacks like turning off the tap when you brush your teeth, only use your dishwasher when completely full, you never throw away any water that can be used elsewhere.
